Episode 28: The Dangers of Comparison
Sunday Dec 12, 2021
Sunday Dec 12, 2021
Everyone rationalizes their own existence.
With that, it comes easy to look at the surface of someone else's life and say things like "it must be nice to...." or "wow they are so lucky." When you compare your progress to someone else's, you're placing limits on yourself. Comparing yourself to others is a battle you'll never win. Jordan Peterson says it best: "Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, no to who someone else is today."

Episode 27: Liking vs. Loving
Sunday Dec 05, 2021
Sunday Dec 05, 2021
Here's a question: Is it better to be liked or loved? Here's another: Is liking someone stronger than loving someone?
Liking someone versus loving someone might come as a shock to most. You can love someone, but not necessarily like them. A lot of times, when people fall in 'love' with someone, they fall in love with the positive, the clean, and the pure, and tend to not recognize any negatives. As time goes on, and the negatives begin to bubble to the surface, the term "I'm falling out of love with you" tends to be a common statement. Liking someone is a crucial part in a relationship and I would argue that liking, in some instances, is stronger than loving.

Episode 26: The Paradox of Life
Sunday Nov 28, 2021
Sunday Nov 28, 2021
The question we are always faced with in life is simple: What do we need to do in order to be content in life? Mark Mason says "We all need stability and we need change. We need freedom and we need commitment. We need our individuality and we need to conform." How true is that?
This is the paradox. Some of the most important truths in life are contradictory. If you want to be trusted by others, you need to trust others. The more you fail, the more likely you are to succeed. We are constantly challenging ourselves daily and strive to become the best 'us' we can be. One paradox that stands out the most during our journey is this: The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know.

Episode 25: Thanks-Giving
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
Sunday Nov 21, 2021
It's important to realize and acknowledge the good that you already have in your life. There is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. Take time to be thankful for everything that you have. You can always have more, but you could also have less. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and ultimately creates a vision for tomorrow; so this week let's focus on the good, the clean, the positive, and the pure as we enter into the Thanksgiving Holiday. Let's be grateful to be surrounded with those we love and care about.

Episode 24: Hip vs. Earnest
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
Sunday Nov 14, 2021
What would you consider more important: Hip or Earnest?
Earnest comes from the core, whereas being 'hip' is all about trying to impress from the surface. An earnest person is an honest person. They act and talk according to their thoughts. With this, they often put themselves at the risk of being laughed at (that's the price of authenticity). Hip on the other hand, tend to follow the fad or what's trendy. It's extremely short-term and eventually, it has an end. Randy Paush explains it perfectly; "I'll take an earnest person over a hip person every time, because hip is short-term. Earnest is long-term."
